Metal-insulator transition and magnetic ordering in Hubbard models near the Nagaoka limit.

چکیده
We study the metal-insulator transition and magnetic ordering in the Hubbard model using the particle-hole mapping. The analysis simplifies near the ferromagnetic limit. We find that the two dimensional(2D) Hubbard model has a charge excitation gap at half-filling for any finite U in this region on both the bipartite square lattice and the nonbipartite triangular lattice. In some cases, the system goes through a first-order phase transition to become a paramagnetic metal as Sz is lowered. We also discuss the extension to the doped case. We find that in the large U limit, a single doped hole has a bandwidth of order of J rather than t at Sz = 0. PACS numbers: 71.30.+h, 75.10.Jm, 05.30.Fk Typeset using REVTEX 1

Investigation of effect of magnetic ordering on structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) using ab initio method
Structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) were studied for each of three magnetic configurations nonmagnetic, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic by using density functional theory in generalized gradient approximations (GGA) and strong correlation correction (GGA + U). Due to magnetic transition from antiferromagnetic to nonmagnetic phase, an electr...
متن کاملObservation of a metal-to-insulator transition with both Mott-Hubbard and Slater characteristics in Sr2IrO4 from time-resolved photocarrier dynamics
We perform a time-resolved optical study of Sr2IrO4 to understand the influence of magnetic ordering on the low energy electronic structure of a strongly spin-orbit coupled Jeff = 1/2Mott insulator. By studying the recovery dynamics of photoexcited carriers, we find that upon cooling through the Néel temperature TN the system evolves continuously from a metal-like phase with fast (∼50 fs) and e...
متن کاملCharge - transfer metal - insulator transitions in the spin - 12 Falicov - Kimball model
The spin1 2 Falicov-Kimball model is solved exactly on an infinite-coordination-number Bethe lattice in the thermodynamic limit. This model is a paradigm for a charge-transfer metal-insulator transition, where the occupancy of localized and delocalized electronic orbitals rapidly changes at the metal-insulator transition ~rather than the character of the electronic states changing from insulati...
متن کاملCritical behaviour near the metal - insulator transition of a doped Mott insulator
We have studied the critical behaviour of a doped Mott insulator near the metal-insulator transition for the infinite-dimensional Hubbard model using a linearized form of dynamical mean-field theory. The discontinuity in the chemical potential in the change from hole to electron doping, for U larger than a critical value Uc, has been calculated analytically and is found to be in good agreement ...
متن کاملSuppression of Mott–Hubbard states and metal–insulator transitions in the two-band Hubbard model
I investigate band and Mott insulating states in a two-band Hubbard model, with the aim of understanding the differences between the idealised oneorbital model and the more realistic multi-band case. Using a projection ansatz I show that additional orbitals suppress the metal-insulator transition, leading to a critical coupling of approximately eight times the bare band-width. I also demonstrat...
